I was born in Minnedosa, Manitoba and grew up in Erickson, Manitoba. Erickson is a small town and I had to have an adventurous mind growing up to keep ourselves occupied. I spent most of my time outdoors which made me realize how many activities I could come up with.
I have a lot of volunteering experience, including Girl Guides of Canada, 4-H, as well as the Lutheran Church. It helped me interact with others and learn the importance of helping others.
I have had many job that have to do with serving the public. There was many stressful situations as well as variety of tasks that I needed to do. I worked at Mountain Park Pharmacy for numerous of years and that job helped me deal with difficult situations, meeting deadlines, as well as working with the public.
Picture 1: This was a dress for success day in Office Procedures. It is a professional outfit as I have dress shoes, dress pants and a blazer. This outfit would be for more of a business meeting.
Picture 2: This picture is just a simple professional outfit. It has a dress shirt and dress pants, this would be used in a more casual meeting. The only negative is I need new dress pants as these ones are far too big on me now.
Picture 3: This picture is more of a comfortable yet dressy outfit. Again it is a simple outfit with a sweater t-shirt and dress pants. I wouldn't wear this to a formal meeting. It may add to the outfit if I had a belt or something to jazz it up.
Picture 4: This picture again is more of a comfortable outfit, but can wear it to any meeting except a formal one. It has a simple long sleeve sweater and dress pants.
Picture 5: This picture was taken while my Aunty and I were presenting an award. I was wearing dress pants, dress shoes, a short sleeve shirt and a light sweater on top. In this picture the pants fit a little better than the second picture.
Work-life balance is very important as if you don't have a balance you will become run down. It makes being at the work place more happier when you are happy outside of work as well. If you don't it doesn't only affect you, it affects your coworkers, family, friends.
http://www.authenticpromotion.com/work-life-balance/index.html has many strategies to help balance out and keep you happy and healthy. It helps with positive thinking tips, as well as self care tips which are very important.
http://articles.chicagotribune.com/keyword/life-balance This website has a few statistics on work-life balance as well as the good and bad that can come from it. There are a few different articles, it is a helpful website and it comes from the Chicago Tribune.
Three activities that I plan to do to try and reduce stress would be:
- Running - when I run I don't think about anything else. It helps me release that stress that has been building up during the day/week.
- Listening to music - when I listen to music it calms me and I can sing along and not think about the day I had. The louder it is, the better I feel.
- Breath and take some me time - it may be difficult if you have a hectic schedule to take some me time. If you can't find time try and sneak away for a few minutes, even go sit in the washroom and just breath. Taking deep breaths releases the stresses you have (in through the nose, out through the mouth).
5 Personal behaviours for myself:
- People person - I love working with the public and interacting with others. Almost every job that I have had was working with the public. I have worked at a pharmacy, retail store, restaurant, golf course. Girl Guides and 4-H helped me as well to have this behavior.
- Reliable - if I say I am going to do something, I will get it done. If there are any problems along the way I contact the person to let them know, with notice so there is time. I get the work done that needs to be done and try not to leave it to the last minute.
- Empathy - I have a lot of empathy for others, if they are going through a difficult situations. I care for others because I treat people the way I want to be treated which is to be nice and respectful and listen to others.
- Polite - I am always polite to others and I don't like it when people are rued to me. If you are polite it helps avoid difficult situations and the client or customers will leave happy and return for future business.
- Considerate - I am always thinking about others and how they feel (try to make them happy). If I can try and work around someone's schedule to make it easier on them, I will. If I am considerate then others may be too and return for future business.
